My next door neighbor just started to use an air conditioner in his apartment. The thing is, it's no longer hot outside and the a/c is on almost 24 hrs a day, even when my neighbor is not home. Why would somebody do this? Is he running a meth lab?

My ac is called a packaged unit...It also has a heat strip in it and the same unit serves as a heater too.....There are also heat pumps now that do the same..they are both in one..the cooling(ac) in summer..and the heating(heater) in the winter...

A meth lab is one. Is it air conditioning or just the fan. Maybe he is painting and want to clear the air. Perhaps he decided to get in shape and needs to cool down because he is working out. Boy can your imagination run amok. I going to think about something else now.

the outside temp doesnt matter compared to what he wants the inside temps to be. an a/c will keep the inside temps to whatever they set it to. it may be that he has it set to 75 degrees. and yes he may be doing something inside the house that causes heat... such as a wife going thru that change!!! it could also be its just the fan running and not the a/c's compressor. they could also have a unit that does both heat and cool. by the way why do you care? are you paying their bills?

no, an air con can be changed to a heater also.there would be an option on it where you can set the temp to what you want. i never use my air con in summer but always in winter. he probs leaves it on while he is out so the house is warm when he gets home.
