So I recently moved to oak park IL from MN and I keep hearing about "vehicle stickers". What are they? Do I need one? I park my car in a garage, so I don't need a parking permit, but do i still need this sticker thing? Is it the same thing as the "tabs" (the 08-09 stickers you put on your license plate that the DMV gives you every year). I'm just totally baffled at this point and would love some help, thanks!

There are two types of stickers you must have on your car in Illinois: a license plate renewal sticker and a municipal sticker. You have to display the municipal sticker in your front windshield, generally in the lower right-hand side. The cost of the municipal sticker varies by town, but is generally $20 to $40 per year. Please get one as soon as possible as municipal cops can write you a ticket for not having one. You can get them from your town's municipal building during regular hours.
Why don't you call up the municiple building for your area and ask what its all about. If it applies to your car then call the vehicle registration or licencing agency and ask them. As far as I know as long as you have a licence for the state you live in and the plates for your car and registration and insurance why worry about anything else to drive? You may just say, "what in the state of Illinois do I have to have to drive, (besides the car that is)? Thats all. Since you just moved to that state the people who lived there already maybe just playing a trick on you by making you think theres something more. I guess thats what the commenter "Dangerous" was talking about sortof.
