Suggestions for downhaul for jib?

Anyone have any examples of a good working downhaul system for the jib on a sloop. links to sites that illustrate the system would be helpful

Thanks for the link. Described is basic downhaul but I was hoping to find system that also helps contain the sail when down. the Gerr downhaul is one system I hope to try

The key words here are "good" and "working" -- jib downhauls MUST be very simple, and with both the halyard and the downhaul led back to the cockpit can keep you out of some real "situations".

Great answer and link from Billcanoe. A hanked forestay sail (mistakenly called a jib) can be rigged with a downhaul and it is probably the easiest way to accomplish what you want.

I've seen headsails, particularly flying jibs, hanked to their own halyard, making for easier dousing, but that would add more lines and clutter to your boat.
