Is your boss constantly knocking your candidate for President considered a hostile work environment?
If my boss is continuously bad-mouthing my choice for President (and the party he belongs to) and it makes me uncomfortable because I don't really feel I can say anything back, is this considered a hostile work environment? Besides going to human resources (which would probably be a waste of time as he's a VP), is there any other recourse? Thank you.

Good grief, no it's not a hostile work environment. Just wait a few weeks and the election will be over.
Nope, in fact, if you're in the private-sector, live anywhere in the US but Montana and do not have a collective bargaining agreement or other contract of employment that specifies you may only be disciplined or discharged for just cause, your employer would be perfectly within his legal rights to fire you because of your political views. It sucks, I know-- that your boss can discriminate against you based on your politics, but in a non-union shop they can get away with it under the law. US employment law is even weaker than Mexico's-- perhaps not in practice, but on paper at least it is.
It's not a hostile environment in any way that will allow you to sue them. Neither you nor your boss should be discussing politics in the office. It's completely unprofessional, divisive and does not contribute anything but bad things to the company.
no it is not. if he macain/obama is a cheap, lier, etc he is just talking about that person Not you. if he said republicans/demacrat are *** jackasses or something like that then yes. it is not a hostile enviorment for someone to talk politics that you dont agree with... if you praise that same candidate would you be causing a hostile work enviorment to supporters of the opposite candidate????
