How do I find my (POP3 or IMAP) server name?

I also need to find my outgoing e-mail server name. I clicked 'help' and it suggested contacting my internet service provider. I assume that would be AT&T. I called them and they said that if I wanted help it would cost me $100.00, and that if it didn't work, I had five days to get it fixed for free. What a deal!

When I was setting up the e-mail account, it supplied me with a number of options, like POP3, IMAP, SMTP, etc., but when I entered any one of those listed, it came back with this error message.

The easiest way is to go to the website of whatever company hosts your email, and go to their help page.

In other words, if your email is dude@yahoo.com, you go to Yahoo's email page and hit the help link.

They will have all the information for you.

If AT&T is your internet service provider (ISP) they'll most likely have the POP and SMTP server settings available somewhere in the Support section of their DSL website. If your email is hosted with someone else (eg, gmail or Yahoo), you'll have to check their website instead. Typically, larger email hosts will have step-by-step instructions on how to configure Outlook for use with their service.
