I think people who talk to themselves are normal, and perfectly healthy. Kind of like rehearsing what to say or even preparing ourselves for what may or may not happen, or to get ideas down mentally. It's something we all do whether we realize it or not. Some may speak others may mouth, but we're all guilty of doing it once in a while.

I had an elderly friend once (lady aged 80) who I befriended after moving close to her home. She always used to speak to herself and at first, I thought she was speaking to me and I used to say 'pardon'. She would look at me as if I had lost my marbles and say 'I didn't say anything'.... then she would continue her conversation with Mr Nobody saying that ' she is off her rocker, accusing me of talking to her when I am not saying anything!'
I guess the majority of 'talking to yourself' syndrome comes with age, however, I occasionally come out with 'you are joking' if something goes wrong in my life and I am alone without anyone to share the news with - or I may be overheard talking to my dogs on a daily basis.... does this count?
I think some are normal, perhaps just lonely. Then again some may be a little unstable, depending on what the cause is for their conversation with themselves. All in all, I think it is a good job we don't hear them, we may not like what we hear!

I think talking to yourself is a good habit for some. They like to think out loud, so to speak. Arguing with yourself is abnormal. Losing the argument is scary.

well thats normal. i talked to myself esp when am doing some painting that i need to have details on it so i dont get bored. Its ok than screaming to other people around u and thats crazy... it helps to concentrate in what ur doing and seldom no tendencies to think other things not related to what u are into.
