I have frequent leg cramps which causes my low back and hips to hurt what can I do for them?
my potassium level is very good it was just checked and I drink a lot of water. After having the muscle spasm my legs and lower back are sore for a couple of days. The spasms are in the hamstring and quad muscles. I am 65 yrs. old.

It actually usually stems from your back. Use this cushion to help position your back and pelvis better: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/product/SitBRst400 Pressure on specific nerves usually causes leg or back spasm or pain.
As far as nutrients, make sure you drink enough water; also a calcium defiency can cause frequent muscle spasms.
Don't use the quinine, people have died from it and there are law suits pending over it. See if your doc will put you on amitriplyne for the leg cramps, I take 1 25mg a day. All my blood work came back that they were fine but was still having cramps in feet they have now subsided after being on this med for about a month.
It could be hypoparathyroidism, which causes your body to have a calcium deficiency. I don't know if that's what it is, but if you've been having cramps & the enamel on your teeth has gotten weaker you might wanna get a blood test done to check your calcium levels.
