I have a nice old brown leather bomber jacket. It is maybe 20 years old and while it is comfortable and nicely worn (with a soft patina all over), I think it could use a little restoration and maybe weather-proofing. But I don't want to put on something that will ruin the well used appearance. Got any suggestions?

Call a high-end leather goods store, and ask them if they can recommend a good professional. In my experience, leather wipes are the best bet. If you use an oil, it clogs the pores and ruins the patina. Just remember to store it in a good, warm closet. If the air is dry, the leather will get dryrotten. Something tells me you love it and it rarely gets put away. Regular wear is the best remedy. Try not to put stuff on it if you can avoid it.
Go to your local sporting goods store and see if they have and cleaner and conditioner for leather. Also try a higher end shoe store, they most likely will have something for you.
