Blu-ray output with TV output?

I have a 720p LCD TV and I am interested in a blu-ray DVD player (not sure which one) and almost all of them say they are 1080p output. Will that work on my TV? I don't want to buy a DVD player and find out it only work with 1080p TVs.

I had a feeling I was going to lose some quality, but it'll be nice to have the picture & sound of current DVDs better than what they are now.

It'll work, just that BD movies will be downscaled to 720p on your TV. That's fine, higher quality images can easily be downscaled and still look great.

Blu-ray is only 1080p output. You can put it on a 720p TV and it will work but you are only seeing half of the potential picture quality from a blu-ray DVD.

It depends on what it is that you're playing. For fast action, the higher the hz the better, but, as long as you have a 1080p television then you'll pretty much be getting true high def picture quality. hz is just to do with the refreshment rate of the television, ie - less blur if there's a lot of fast action playing (car racing, for example)

it'll work but u'll not get the full 1080p of ur blu-ray.
