What do you do when you were caught stealing and charged?

I would like to help this person but I have no idea how the law works. Is this a civil offense or a criminal offense. I think this action was caused by extreme stress and am told this was the first offense

Will the person need to have finger printing done 

Why would someone who has everything in their lives, get so stressed out that they would go out and be so obvious about stealing just to get caught but they are now sorry

Sounds like criminal charges.  Best thing you can do is help them get a decent defense attorney.

Maybe they have a Mental Illness and need therapy to stop the stealing. Many rich people have this type of Mental Illness. I would suggest they get a therapist and have the therapist go with them to court too along with their lawyer.
