Let me put a man's perspective on this shall I. I'm not afraid of public restrooms. I do however take issue with people that don't flush, (especially after dropping a deuce) and those who pee all over the seat. Hey guys lifting the seat up doesn't make any less of a man trust me. Nor does wiping it off if you do pee on it. Oh by the way please PLEASE stop peeing on the floor. There's not much worse then stepping in someone else's urine when you're stepping up to the bowl.

I know that you can't get diseases from public toilets. I hate them because more often then not, there are sprinkles on the seat from the previous person. The floors are usually wet and somehow I end up with the stall without toilet paper. Then there's the risk that your toilet won't flush.
I don't doubt that your toilet is cleaner than your kitchen counter. I'm just creeped out by not knowing who's butt has used that toilet. Especially a really popular public washroom.
Ew, and then there's the people who can't flush and those people who can't be bothered to make sure that their woman products are hidden away in the trash bin.

I'm not afraid of public toilets, but I do avoid them whenever possible. The main reason for my disgust with them is that other people have so little respect for the people that need to use the toilet after them. Most public restrooms are just nasty, not because they aren't cleaned regularly, but because people make such a mess. I've seen a few that I absolutely refused to use because of the horrible things left by previous users.

The stench, what I might find when opening a stall door, no locks on some of the doors no toilet paper no seat covers and having to hear people's cell phone conversations until I can get out of there.

I'm not afraid of them but I try to avoid them in certain places because I know they won't be clean. Certain places keep their restrooms clean, like Target, Walmart, and department stores like Macy's and Norstrom. I know there will always be liners and toilet tissue in them.
It's not a virus that we have to worry about, it's the bacteria. Feces that you won't even see carries E Coli which can be deadly.
