AP classes are graded on a 5.0 scale, right?

Okay, here are my grades
AP Lang/Comp : B
Spanish 4 : A
Pre-Calc : B
AP European History : A
Chorale (Mixed Choir) : A

My report card says that I have a 3.7, but if my AP classes were on a 5.0 scale, it would be more like a 4.0, right?

Someone explain this to me. Oh, and I live in WI

Well, this is the way it worked in my school. Each AP class was weighted one letter grade higher. Yet, that weight doesn't apply to all your grades, it is still an average. So an A(4.0) in an AP class was equal to about a 4.2(in my case) To get a 5.0 you'd have to take 5 AP's and get all A's.

For example here is a rough guess at your grades:
AP Lang/Comp: 3.2
Spanish 4: 4.0
Pre-Calc: 3.0
AP Euro: 4.2
Chorale: 4.0
(3.2+4+3+4.2+4)/5= 3.68
