How do I learn how to play a Piano?
My roommate has a piano and I really want to learn how to play it. I listen to classical music heavily and can play a couple of melodies just by hearing them. Is there a better way to learn? How do I start?

You will have to take 1-2-1 lessons. You don't really need a "great" teacher if you are just a beginner. Just someone who you get on with and can establish a good rapport with and who talks to you on a wavelength you can understand.
Lessons do not come cheap so make sure you are earning some money from somewhere!

Good deals on lessons can be found at the local music school (if you are at or near a college/university). Many of the students will need to gain more experience in teaching.

A teacher is the best option. But if you are pressed for money, go for teaching yourself with books and stuff like that. But a teacher helps you develop an artistic sense of the music,.

Start by finding a good teacher then keep moving up from there if you want to become professional. Just keep in mind that it takes a lot of practice. good luck though
