And I think it was sort of a triangle shape.... I know that's really vague, but my husband really wants one and claims he used to have one and it was his favorite pen ever. So I thought it would be a good stocking stuffer only I forgot the name! Any pen fanatics with ideas?

I think I MAY know what he is describing.
I have seen a pen that folds up, into, essentially a rectangular, credit card shap and size, flat, and fits in a wallet.
This "card" could be unfolded and then the three sides would snap together to make a fairly passable ball point pen. The ink cartridge was not replacable as it was an integral part of one of the sides.
The only place I have seen these are on various sites that sell those promotional giveaway items, like personalized tape measures, rulers, pens, mousepads, etc.
I suggest a websearch for "promotional items," or "promotional premiums."
