The current debt is at $10,685,705.971,036.20 according to the U.S. National Debt Clock located at: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

"The estimated population of the United States is 305,203,840
so each citizen's share of this debt is $35,011.70.

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$3.89 billion per day since September 28, 2007!"

Sorry for the grim news!

The good news is if we can wrap these wars up and stay out of any new wars once the economy begins moving again almost every nation and millions of investors around the world will invest in US Government bonds and that debt will always fluctuate, but will go down. I don't worry about the debt though. As long as the US remains the worlds economic powerhouse our credit will always be good. After all, who is going to knock on congress's door and demand payment in full? Good luck with that.
Since i don't use as much of the national resources as many others i won't bother to pay off my 38,000 worth.. They'll just have to wait till i die then sell my body for the money .)

By the way, just what is the United States dept? That's short for department, debt is spelled with a B..duhh
