How long should I wait to ride after teeth floating and wolf tooth removal?

My four and one haff year old gelding just had his teeth floated and his wolf tooth removed Friday afternoon. How long should I wait to ride using a snaffle bit? He does not seem to be swollen.

ask the vet

I waited a week, but the vet had to go fishing for the root of the wolf tooth that broke.....

Keep in mind that for this case, a snaffle is pretty tough as it works on the areas that have been ravaged. Consider a hackamore or a sidepull. I used the sidepull for my young dressage horse.

After a float.. the next day would be fine.

But wolf teeth adds more to the story.

I would wait 2 wks personally to really make sure hes healed up properly. A week at the earliest.

You just dont want to ride to early and cause him pain and then have to fix issues that happened because of that.

you can ride him tomarrow, but if he seems a little head shy, sore, or irritated, wait till the next day. Actually I'm not sure about the tooth removal part, but it seems lilke it should be ok by tomarrow.

Having teeth removed hurts. A lot. What does your vet recommend?
I don't think most of the people on here can make that call.

I rode the next day, but kept bit pressure light. As long as your horse isn't irritated by it, don't worry. If he is showing bit irritation, then quit and wait a few more days
