does it annoy you when you answer a question?
You take the time and thought to answer someones question and they do not bother to choose a best answer? or even acknowledge that they read the answers?

It depends on the question and the amount of time I spent answering.
Most of the time I don't get annoyed when someone doesn't chose a Best Answer because I understand how busy life can be and how quickly time can slip through our fingers. Oftentimes a question the asker intended to resolve can go into voting before he or she has had the chance to pick the best answer. This has happened to me more than once, especially during finals or other chaotic times. I genuinely try to always thank everyone for answering and chose a best answer because I feel it's discourteous not to.
I do get mildly annoyed when a person appears to be desperate for an answer and I take the time to try to give a detailed one for them, and then they never acknowledge it in any way. The only time I truly get vexed, though, is when someone emails me pleading for help and I take the time to write a through answer for them and then they never even bother to pick a best answer or send a thank you, and I wonder if it was ever even read. One guy had the audacity to pester me non-stop during finals last spring (I'm a senior in hs) for help when I'd already answered three questions for him that he hadn't bothered to pick as best. I finally answered it and guess what happened...... the voters picked it as best.
Anyhooooo. For the most part, I just answer questions here for personal fulfillment and / or because I'm a bit of an insomniac.
So, are you going to pick a best answer for this question?

Well, I don't normally go back to look at questions after i have answerred them, so if they choose me as Best Answer then obviously I know, becuase I get an email telling me, but otherwise I never actually check to see whether they have chosen a best answer or not.
Or if they haven't chosen a Best Answer, it may not be because they couldn't be bothered, but because they liked all the answers. I once asked a question where I only got four answers, but I liked all of them and didn't feel able to pick one over the others.

Nope. I usually don't take the time to write a well thought out answer, but when I do, it really doesn't bother me when I'm not chosen as the best. It's just the Internet. It's nothing to be serious about.

It most certainly does. Why do they bother doing it, then you know when it goes to voting they've decided to google the question and found it. It would be common courtesy if they would acknowledge the help and withdraw the question or pick an answer.

Not really. When they don't choose a best answer it goes over to voting and the answers community chooses one for them. What bothers me more is people that put in additional details after every response and comment on people's answers, usually because they are being immature because people don't agree with them or they didn't get the answer they wanted to hear.
