What's the different between Blu-Ray and HD upconversion DVD players? And which one would look better on a 720P TV?

Blu-ray takes an HD source and sends it to a HDTV.
Upconversion takes a non-HD source (and does it's best to make it look like HD) and sends it to a HDTV.
Upconversion will never look as good as Blu-ray because upconversion comes from the inferior source.

Blu-ray will always look way better than an HD upconversion dvd. I really dont think upconversion is all its cracked up to be especially compared to blu-ray.
