How often do the citizens of the various European counties have to be hit over the head until they understand ?
that Putin's fascists cannot be trusted?
Would it be so hard to build an offshore platform to thaw frozen gas from dependable sources like Saudi Arabia where it can then be safely piped inland? Would it not be a reasonable gamble to build a pipeline from Saudi Arabia through Israel, Lebanon, and Turkey? Would it not make sense to ensure the independence of Georgia so the fascists cannot control that pipeline gas source?
Europe needs to stop hallucinating and join up with the real world.

Freezing natural gas is a new technology - cheaper then piping it - but dangerous in a port due to its explosiveness. I could see it working quite well if ports were taken out of the equation. As far as a pipeline, it would have to go through either Syria or Lebanon: Syria is potentially as bad as Russia using energy as a weapon and Lebanon is unstable. Even southeastern Turkey could be problematic. Unless Georgia is made a NATO member and Europe and Turkey are serious about protecting it from Russian aggression, it too is questionable.
Agree that Europe needs to break away from Russian shenanigans - every winter they play games and Europeans suffer but yet, Europe treats Russia like it did Germany in the 1930s, ie, nothing to fear and not seeing the truth through the rose-colored glare. I'd also think Fuhrer Putin could come up with something better then the laughable "they changed it" story too. He must be getting mentally tired.
Freezing natural gas is the wave of the future - it would be to Europe's advantage to take advantage of it since there are no alternates to fossil fuel in the foreseeable future and Russia is stuck in the 19th century as far as their political thinking goes.
Frozen gas from Saudi eh lol. Build a pipeline through the Middle East eh? I suppose thats a stable part of the world is'nt it? Take on the might of Russia? Great idea lol.
You Yanks can keep paying Al-Quaida for your energy. Us Europeans will just use less fuel, drive smaller cars and find cleaner, alternative, non Russian sources of energy. Nuclear, wind, wave, biomass, geothermal, hydro ....... we'll be better off and, at the same time, do what the US could never do militarily. Beat the Russians!
So thanks for the advice, but I think we'll pass. We do not need lessons from America when it comes to resources thankyou very much lol.
I'd be thinking hard about reducing my dependency on natural gas. If the supply is vulnerable no matter what the reason Ukraine/Russia, it's wise to not be dependent on it.
A pipeline to the Mid east probably isn't practical, besides they have their own problems and might cut you off too.
