A question about 'webs.com'?

Has anyone used this free site before? If you don't want to purchase a domain name and you just want a free website, what would your address look like?

well webs.com used to be freewebs.com. When you have a so called free subdomain, instead of purchasing a domain, you get a website url like red.webs.com. or www.webs.com/red. In these two cases, red is the username. Whatever you choose your username to be, would be the replacement of "red" in these two examples.

Well according to Google, webs.com is the modern branding name of Freewebs - which is one of the major players in the free web hosting business.

If you sign up with them from what I've read, your domain would be http://www.webs.com/<your username here>/

I used www.freewebs.com (now - www.webs.com) along time ago and the address that linked to my website was www.freewebs.com/dajopas (now is - www.webs.com/dajopas) but I remember you could use another which was www.dajopas.webs.com

I also used a free domain service which is freedomain.co.nr and they give you a free domain. Mine was dajopas.co.nr and it links straight to my website.

Most free Web hosts give you a URL like:

yoursite.freehost.com or freehost.com/yoursite

But free Web hosting isn't usually worth it, it's best to go ahead and buy your domain name.
