How did I receive points for a question I did not answer and how did my name get put on someone else's answer?

I would like to know how I received points for best answer to a question
that is not my answer.The answer is from someone else.Does this happen often?I do not want points for a question that I did not answer.

Check you email and your Answers, maybe the points came from another question you answered.
