Was Obama the first President to Skip Ball Honoring Medal of Honor Recipients in Over 50 Years?

Can anyone provide proof to show this did or did not take place? I received the link below in email and have searched to find proof of this claim and find nothing but hearsay.

I cannot find anything other than bloggers talking about this.

I cannot find anything on the American Legion's actual website.

All I have seen are articles that indicate that this ball took place in the past and that past President have attended.

I also don't see any bloggers or "truth" sites saying it didn't happen.

If it's true you would expect the mainstream right wing commentators like Hannity or similar to be talking about it. The fact that they're not makes me skeptical.

I have no idea, until I see this story presented by a reputable news service I will withhold judgement.

He attended more balls than any other president in history in one night. I was amazed at the stamina of both he and his wife after being up since 5am for all stuff surrounding the inauguration. They stayed until the very last unit in the parade after everyone else had left which got them off schedule. Add to that he was at the national prayer breakfast the first thing next morning and signing executive orders later that same day.

How do you know a con is lying?

His lips are moving or his fingers are on a keyboard.

Just like the viral E-mail about all the "mysterious" clinton deaths - every single one of them lies, from first line to the last.

You will find that this E-mail, and a great many more, passed around by cons are simply lies designed to validate their sad, pathetic opinions.

You know how I can tell you're not a con? You asked for a fact check.
A con would have believed it automatically because it validates his opinion. That's the only requirement necessary for them to believe anything.

No he didn't. It was actually cancelled that morning. There were two other military/vet balls. One he went to (remember the video of him dancing with the soldier) The other was held on monday(which is weird lol) and Obama was busy at a dinner honoring another vet...McCain.

Don't believe every right wing smear.
