I have cracks that run along the corner bead. What's the best way to repair them. It some spots its actually bubbling out and cracking off. Other areas it is just a small crack line running all the way alongside the corner on both sides. Thank you!!

The quickest and easiest way to fix it is to buy some paintable caulking that remains flexible when dry.
Simply fill the cracks, push the caulking in with your finger, and then touch up the paint when it dries.

I am a 37 year experienced painter and years ago the drywall finishing and painting were classified as 2 different trades,,through the years builders got tired of painters showing up to paint and then notifying the builder that the drywall finishing was not done correctly or it wasn't complete yet..also the painter got really teed off if they had to sand all of the drywall finishers work, and usually left the job untill the drywall finishers corrected the problem...eventually it faded into that most builders would not hire a drywall finishing sub unless they also subbed out the painting too..this way the same company was responsible for both..If the painters showed up, and it wasn't complete..each painting crew then also had a drywall finisher on hand to correct the mistakes for they worked for the same company..I have done the finishing and painting for over 20 years at least and have painted since 13 years old for my uncles..get a drywall finishing/paint company combined to do this..do not get a general contractor for they will simply hire us to do it..then tack on at least 30 to 40 % for thier profit and never touch the work....DO NOT GET A GENERAL HANDYMAN OR CARPENTER EITHER....they generally do a half arz job when it comes to drywall finishing..and no amount of paint will cover a bad drywall repair job..

Where it's just a settling crack you can fill with latex painters caulk, the cheap kind, don't use silicone because it can actually repel the touch up paint, but if you're neat and careful it may not need painting. Where the drywall tape is bubbling out of the corner it should be cut out and patched back in, or just totally re-tape the whole corner. Drywall cracks are most often caused by the foundation settling causing a slight shift or sinking of the walls. If it's caused by moisture seepage or a leak it will be damp and you'll need to fix that before repairing.

Seems like you have moisture in the wall wich would be that there is a leak on the roof in that general area. To repair the roof you will have to clean the gutter real well and if there is rot between the gutter and roof area you will have to take the gutter down and replace the wood stripping and caulk it. I know that is the problem. If you have a tree close by, that will tell you alot. Stuff falls from the trees that you can't actually see and green moss will start to build up on your roof shingles which will cause rot especially on the edge areas which in turn will cause the stripping to become soggy and then eventually rotted holes to support the theory that water goes in and gets in between the wall causing moisture and wetness which in turn causs the inside room wall to bubble and start the cracking process and eventually making it impossible to just repair the wall itself for which it will impossible to maintain and keep that nice smooth wall look for every year you will be doing the same thing over and over and then eventually putting a new wall in and not noticing the roof and going through this same pratice with the same wall in another one to two rainy years. Don't be satistic, do it right and any fool can do it themselves instead of paying unlimited amounts of money to someone who is going to take you to the bank and tell you that you need this and that done when you really don't. Go to the library and get a couple of books on these subjects, they are free because if you buy they cost you alot of cash especially for somone who can't afford to pay too much for a minor repair. When the drywall was installed there was no room allowed for expansion; that's why it is a problem.Drywall isn't supposed to be flush-mounted, a space of about 1/16 of an inch will help it. You can just use joint compound or vinyl plaster patch to repair the places. As for the bubbling it may be because the compound wasn't allowed enough time to dry before it was finished.Clean those places and patch them too.
