What is the best HD Projector for under $2000?

I'm looking for something that will support 1080p. Good contrast (above 10000:1) and decent lumens (above 1200) are also important.

Please take note that any projector with iris manipulations to increase the contrast level to 10000:1 is very likely to cause noticeable scene changes. You really only need a native [non-iris manipulated] contrast level of 2000:1 to support viewing of standard or Blu-Ray movie quality DVDs.

So, here's my recommendation for a 2500:1, 1200 lumens DLP projector with a 4X color wheel: it's an Infocus S-10 [infocus.com] for $2,200.

Good luck!

For a 720i/p projector interior the $2,000 variety, i might propose the two the Infocus IN76 or the Optoma HD72. I fairly choose the IN76 simply by very intense lumens of 490 that's at it is lowest lamp/econo putting. sturdy success!

I'd recommend some of the following.

Optoma HD70 - DLP projector

Mitsubishi HD1000U - DLP projector

InFocus IN76

You should look into reading a consumer guide magazine, we looked into these before purchasing our digital camera, big screen tv, and our video camera. The tell you all about the product, how it's rated, and things that have been known to go wrong with it.
