Activities for a weekend in Chicago?

Hello.
I am going to Chicago for a weekend in mid March with my boyfriend. I have never been there. I would like you to advise me in activities we could do while in Chicago. I would really like to learn about the city's history and outstanding people as well as get to know the typical neighborhoods of Chicago.
I would appreciate web pages, directions to get to the places you are recommending and descriptions of the activities.
Thanks a lot.

Hm. there are a lot of things to do in chicago, if you wanna learn about the city, you can take bus tours, or seguey (sry idk how to spell that) tours, check out the sears tower, got up to the observatory deck from which you can see the entire city. If you wanna see the suburbs, you can drive up north on Sheridain and pass through Glencoe which is an upscale neighborhood with milion dollar mansions, the street itself is a nice windy road alongside the lake. One other cool thing would be to have dinner at the signature room restaurant which is on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building. I have a link for that, the other things you can just google. http://www.signatureroom.com/

China Town, Maxwell Street, Sears Tower, The Water Tower, Navy Pier, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry.

I agree, the Signature Room is great. I also suggest the Art Institute or Field Museum. Shopping and browsing the Magnificent Mile is also a must.

The Sears Tower is neat but it's $12 a person just to go up... If you eat dinner at the sig room you'll be 95 floors up already.. I think the Sears lets you off at 114 or somewhere around there.

If you like the out doors you can go to Navy Pier and rent bikes or a tandem and ride up the lake and look at the architecture.

If you go downtown The Shedd Aquarium is nice.
