i drive a 2008,Mercedes Benz B200turbo, i get a really low MPG,
people tell me the car runs low miles per gallon because it is a turbo, is this truth?, if so what can i do?

This is interesting. I wouldn't think that anyone who could afford to drive a 2008,Mercedes Benz B200turbo would even care about fuel economy. Trade it in on a Toyota Prius!

turbo's either increase mpg or decrease it.

when operating at low rpm's, turbo's increase fuel economy. that's because its putting more air in the cylinder but when at higher rpm, the turbo's actually giving you a boost by forcing more air into the cylinder, so its decreasing fuel economy because then the engine's computer sends more fuel.

you have two options, drive with a light foot...or even better, trade it in for a fuel efficient car.

Be gentle on the throttle, as high RPM means the engine works harder, and gas will be used up quicker. I believe turbo will make your fuel efficiency better, as exhaust gases are forced through the engine. It doesn't matter anyway, not like you'd take the trubo out of your car.

Turbos help mileage when driving slow, help performance when driving fast.

To get better mileage, just drive slower ALL THE TIME.
Accelerate slow, Decelerate slowly (dont rush to a stop sign). Keep RPM's down.

I bet that brake problem your having is eating into your fuel economy. Diesels are known for having better fuel economy than their gas counterparts because Diesel fuel has more energy content per gallon than gas.
