Who's idea was it to start the World Baseball Classic?

Did the owners want it or was it purely a ploy to get the whole world involved in baseball and make it a "World Series"? The owners must be out of their minds to let a multi million dollar player have a chance of getting hurt before the regular season starts!

To Mr "COOLIO", I did take some math and economics, dude! Let's see,I pay Derek Jeter 40 million a year,he get's hurt and misses the whole season,I get paid maybe 10 million to let him play-I'd say that's not TOO good for my Yankee team (that misses the playoffs also)-yeah!--your a pretty good business man, dude!

If I had to guess, I'd say it's the greedy owners who can afford to pay their players millions of dollars and are after another way to make even more money. I agree with you Johnny, why take the risk of having a player get hurt. But in their case their concern isn't the players, it's their wallet. I can't see the World Series becoming a world wide thing because if that happened, the owners wouldn't have all the power & control they have today. Just an opinion.

Good to see you again.
