Is there a normal or customary price range for expert witness testimony? I've been asked to provide some but I have a feeling that I am being low-balled on price. Anyone have any experience in this?

Thanks for the insights - I have quite a lot of expertise in a fairly obscure but big dollar business area. I figured that the basic answer would be "It depends..." I've given that answer many times myself! :-)

Discussing fees can lead to ethical issues among experts. It would all depend on what your specialty is, what your expert background is, and what the expectation is (a written report, just court appearance, etc).
The going rate for experts can be as little as $50 per hour up to several thousand dollars per day at trial.
Expert witness testimony might start at $1,000 and go as high as the traffic can bear with $5,000-$10,000 not uncommon. depends on what you are expert in (how many others can give this type of expert testimony) and how much time/reports you need to give. don't sell yourself short.
What is your field and what are your normal charges for working? If you charge an amount for your office time then you must factor in travel and wait time while at the court. My brother is a forensic psychologist and gets $140 per hour on court days.
