Media Player problem in Vista?

I'm suffering through a problem ( wmpnscfg.exe) and am thinking about doing a reinstall of Vista. If you were faced with a similar problem and were contemplating a reinstall how would you go about it? I don't need any thumbs down about Vista, it's been working flawlessly for a year.

I've tried other players, the problem is that you can't uninstall/disable the Win version and it tries to access the Internet every few minutes causing programs to freeze.

Vista has been working fine to me too for over a year and a half.

but media player is way to slow and sluggish, if you dont mind a "ugglier" interface, download VideoLan (VLC media player) its quick responsive and you dont have to go crazy hunting for codecs.

that way you dont have to reinstall windows.

let me know if it helps.
