I'm wondering who else has skied for more than 50 years?

I started skiing at the age of 1-1/2 and am now completing my 55th consecutive season as a skier. I'm looking for others who have enjoyed this sport for a comparable period of time!

Not quite. I started at 4, and am now 51. I have, at one time or another, worked at almost every job at the hill. I currently coach a K2 group, and volunteer as an official at various races. And I still think that each day on the hill is better than the last.

I'm close but not quite past 50 years. I started skiing lessons in 1959. This does not count walking around on some grass covered with snow on a pair of old edgeless hickory skis with a belt through the middle to hold the boots in place. That was about 3 years earlier but only for an hour or so and they did not slide at all. Since that time I am a nut about having the skis waxed to a fine finish.

My grandfather has been skiing for thousands of years, not really thousands but close to it. I can't tell you exactly when he started but he has told me stories of skiing in Austria while he was growing up. His career ended when a snowboarder ran into him last season and messed his hip up. He's in his early 80s, taught all my aunts and uncles to ski as children and the oldest is 54 so he's been at it for a while.
