it was on the verge of a root canal.he had 1 shot of novacaine before his procedure, trying to be brave, didn't take anymore novacaine. He said it was the painful experience of his life.It was his 16th b-day.He was gone for 3 hours came home, had a terrible headache, wanted to throw up,and slept for 12 hours.A nurse told me it was trauma. It's now 30 hours past, and he has had tylenol, and still has a bad headache.ANY IDEAS????

That trying to be brave thing was a stupid thing on his part. no matter what he should of asked for more numbing if it hurt.

It was shock I think from the extreme pain.

call dentist immediately. note on those procedures. prior to injection, a topical gel should be applied on the gum to lessen pain of injection. he should be taking ibuprophin, not tylenol.
good luck. from now on, tell him floss daily, brush and gargle at least twice daily and keep regualr dental check ups.
I don't think he will play superman again at the dentist. on the verge of root cananl kinda hints to a possible problem so please call dentist with out delay.

the pain willpass if he's not infected. however, there may be dep tissue bruising. one of the things in the shot they give you slows bleeding in the affected area. by the way ibuprofen is NOT tylenol.Ibuprofen is also an anti-inflammatory ( reduces swelling) Tylenol is acetominophen , which does not reduce swelling.
