I'm just wondering why so many people have such a strong hatred for the Twilight series. Every time I look at any sort of Twilight question, the majority of the people who answer are just making rude comments about how stupid the book is. I can certainly see how it gets annoying if you're not a fan of the series to see so MANY about it, but do you really have to click on them? I know it's much the same with questions about the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana over in the celebrity section...if you don't like them, why do you bother to give them a second glance? I just don't get why so many people seem so threatened by the Twilight series. It's very popular, a lot of people like it, and it's been made into a huge movie that comes out on DVD tomorrow I believe. It's natural for there to be all of this hype. Why can't haters just leave the preteens who need help with book reports alone?

Well it all really depends. Some people are really tired of the popularity it's received and kinda just snap at people when it's brought up. Some people have some sort of grudge against the books and want everyone to know it. Some people are just doing it to cause havoc. I think most of them are just annoyed and want to put their two cents in to stop it. Same reason why people have to express their love for a fictional story and express that they are going to marry the character. It's just a clash in personality and makes them feel better when they can stop one person from ranting and raving about the books.
To express the frustration of having to sift through all the Twilight crap in the B&A section (which has lately had a LOT of question regarding the Twilight movie and not the book) just to find questions that are actually asking something new and about books that are worth while. Some of the questions are just ridiculous. The ones like "omg which team are liek you guyz on?" and "edward's so hawt amirite?" are just rude and irritating. Antis are just expressing their opinions on a badly written book series. Get over it.
For the record, yes I have read it, a couple of times actually. If I'm going to hate on something I don't want to be an ignorant hypocrite who doesn't know what they're talking about. And I "gave it a chance". I was reading it 3 years ago, before all the hype. And I'm female too, so don't go saying i'm intimidated by Edward Cullen or some bs like I got accused of last week.
Ok right so at the moment there are more haters then lovers. You came here a month ago and you would be inundated with questions of "EDWARD OR JACOB?!!" and "Do u reali think i culd marry edward cullen?" Do you have any idea how irritating that is. The only reason us haters exist is to combat the crazies. For every hater there is 3 crazies, the crazies are however less articulate and generally give one sentence answers and are therefore brushed off.
If you look at the series from a literary standpoint you realise just how poorly written it is. I cannot believe that such an appallingly written book is so popular. I initially liked the series and it was from looking at the critical analysis of others HERE that i realized just how bad it was. I'm hoping to enlighten others :)
Also I think they're a terrible example for younger kids, particularly girls. Bella is supposed to be a role model. She's shallow, one dimensional and her life revolves entirely around her boyfriend. When he leaves she falls apart and only pulls herself together when she finds another guy to take his place. She has no goals and her aim in life is to be with Edward forever. Not exactly the best role model huh?
And Edward. This guy is supposed to be the 'perfect guy'. I grew up learning to love a person for who they are, not what they look like. Edward and Bella's relationship is based solely on looks. All they do is describe how beautiful the other is. This is how girls are growing up to see how relationships are supposed to be. No. I think that's terrible.
I care because I think it's a bad influence. I think these kids are so obsessed with Twilight they'll do anything. I tried recommending some other (classic) books once to a Twilight fan and she went batshit on me. I just think the characters are not good role models for impressionable kids
Some people are ignorant. And I DO love Twilight. I've found that A LOT of the people who like Twilight in this section, don't have very good grammar or spelling. And it gives everybody else a bad rep. My mind is set. They can tell me why I shouldn't like the book, but I'm still going to like it. For everything that's created in the world, someone or something is going to have strong dislike or hatred toward it.
It really would be nice if people would actually read the books before making comment. It's similar to Harry Potter in that I've never actually spoken to anyone who has actually read the books that would say anything bad about them. Most people love them. If you have just seen the low budget twilight movie without reading the books and think you know what you are talking about I feel sorry for you, just as I feel sorry for anyone who watched the HP movies and hasn't read the books.
