What's going on with Michael Chrichton's new book? It's supposedly finished and everything I've read says it was supposed to come out in December...but now its March. Did they make a late decision to cancel it because of his death or is it merely postponed? If so, any ideas on a new release date? Thanks.

I work in a bookstore and back in August our computers listed an untitled novel by Michael Crichton that would be out on Dec. 2. The hardcover, audio, and large print editions were listed. Usually once we have that much information, the official announcement comes within a month. Slate magazine posted this on July 17:
“Michael Crichton's publisher shopped his next book around this month, despite its projected December release. Book shops are willing to buy early in order to stay ahead of the printing, fulfillment, and shipment processes. That way, they can be sure to get the first available copies.” http://www.slate.com/id/2195474/
So I’m confident Crichton’s last book is finished, but publication was delayed when his health declined. I’m content to wait until his family and publisher decide the time is right for it to be published.
(FYI: Michael Crichton’s current publisher is Harper Collins.)

After his death, there was an entry in wikipedia in his page saying the book would be posthumously sometime in late april or may, but that entry has since then been removed and now it states, set for release some time in 2009 (probably because it was earlier unverified)..
I checked both Michael Crichton's official website and Random House's site (his publisher), and I could find no mention of a posthumous novel to be published or released. Sorry.
