Helen Keller was legendary because of her blindness and deafness and her willing to cope with both of them. She had a teacher who helped her along her way to understanding. Later, Louis Braille, a blind man, invented Braille a way for Helen Keller to start reading and understanding words. She was a miracle in our history.

I don't know about the song, but Helen Keller Was a girl who was blind, deaf, and mute. So there was this woman who helped her do this finger language on her palm an BOOM! Well she didn't learn it very well, but then she learned how to do it! How she got all that, was he got a high fever. And as the days grew by, she got it, and her translator went to college with her.

The story of Helen Keller is the story of a child who, at the age of 19 months, suddenly lost her hearing and vision, and who, against overwhelming odds and with a great deal of persistence, grew into a highly intelligent and sensitive woman who wrote, spoke, and labored incessantly for the betterment of others. So powerful a symbol of triumph over adversity did she become that she has a definite place in the history of our time and of times to come.
30h3 - ''Do the Hellen Keller and talk with your hips.'' i presume because she was deaf and blind it was more to do with body language. probably talking about the way the character walked in the song.
because of her blindness and deafness she was ridiculed and made fun of. there is a host of sick ''Helen Keller'' jokes.
