Ceramic Tromp Loei'l Project Help?

I need some kind of paint (not glaze) that would make a ceramic tromp loie'l project look and/or feel like rusted metal. I was thinking some kind of spray paint, but it might look too glossy. Anything helps. Thanks!

You could get different shades of spray paint (deep orange, bronze, rust, brown, red) and do like a dark orange undercoat and then do the rust texture with the other colors. And get some real rust and grind it up fine and sprinkle over it. Sand might work too. I think your best bet might be trying to incorporate real rust into the sculpture somehow as a texture. Hope this helps.

In some of his famous paintings, Andy Warhol would use copper paint which he mixed with urine to create a visual effect of oxidation. I'm sure there is a more hygenic process nowadays.
