I remember hearing about the phrase "Photons are photons are photons" from my physics professor last semester and I was wondering where he got it from. I thought he quoted someone else but Google gives only one result for that, and it's an indirect quote that wasn't cited. Does anyone know where it came from?

is a standard expression, have noted it in languages other than English, its not a quote from anywhere, there is no original author that could be found. one would use such expression to emphasize that something can be understood in one and only one way. eg:
A: she is not a drug addict, she just likes to experiment with heroin every now and then
B: addict is an addict is an addict
