Removing the Key cylinder and Lock from the steering column 89 Astro Van?

Question

Just got a Van in and it looks like it might run. But someone has removed the Lock ring around the lock cylinder and damaged the key hole.

 Is there a tool that removes the whole cylinder ?

 Or ? how does some pull it out replace it ?

Saginaw steering column. Steering wheel, lock plate and turn signal switch must be removed using the special tools required. Then remove the TORX screw that retains the lock cylinder and slide it out. Reverse to install.
The other answer is correct for a Ford column, but not for a GM Saginaw.

Mariahleadme is correct for the vehicle in question, but is wrong about the first post being for a Ford vehicle.  The first procedure is for the GM CSS column that replaced the Saginaw.  You do not turn a Ford cylinder to 'start' to remove.

theres a hole is the side of the cylinder. you must put the key in ,turn the key and than insert a pin ( like a paper clip ) and than turn the key to the start position, The cylinder should than be removed
