Is this our future in the United States?

An economics professor said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little... The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than
that.

The problem with social programs and entitlements is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Gosh. That is a really great story.
I wonder if it is ever told in the school system. I think the schools are little hot beds of budding socialists.

You should read Ayn Rand's "We The Living". A great little novel set in the USSR of the 1920s. They had CHANGE, just as we are having now.

But yes, this is exactly the road we are going down. The heads of corporations, the leaders of industry, the self made millionaires, the people who work hard and pay their own mortgages and save to send their kids to college are the ones who are being denigrated now and are going to have to foot the bill for Obama's massive cash grab. They are the backbone of this country, the people that pay the bills, the people who take care of themselves and their own.

Share the wealth! And pretty soon there will be none.
Look at Zimbabwe. They did the same thing. Took the resources out of the hands of the evil rich white people. Now look at them. They shared the wealth and now they are starving.

That story parallels the other one I heard about a psychology class experiment. The professor kept marbles in a bowl on his desk; at the beginning of every class he would double the number of marbles in the bowl. For every marble a student had, he would add one point to their final grade *after* averaging it.
Had the students not been greedy there would have more than enough marbles for every student to receive an A. Instead, all the marbles were taken leaving none in the bowl and 0 * 2 = 0.

Yes, you are correct, but the truth be said, we are already in it. O'bama's cabinet along with the democratic party are filling the cracks of Capitalism with plastic explosives, as O'bama says one thing and then does another. He's as elastic as putty, but never firm on anything.

They may now go after Bush and his people. Isn't that sad. Christ said he would return in the times of man's vengeance, and now is that time. It's downright evil. Our country is preparing to fail and then fall. Our leaders are shaking hands with the wrong leaders of the world and everything is being turned upside down.

Well, the disillusioned and those like in your senario of the classroom, which everybody believes they should be equally rich and the rich should be equally poor, so all can be in harmony with each other. It's about to be tested to the max. Yet, us who are poor, have no where to go, while those who are rich will fall a long way, for this administration is helping no one but the rich and powerful as they strengthen their grip of our rights and freedoms given to us by God and men who fought and died for us all.

This will only last until the people, stand together and spout the same words that show unity amongst all who know right from wrong, and are willing to help their neighbor, without wondering when the government will help them. That's what's got us into where America is going. Selfish people who only care about themselves and no one else. Now many believe the Government should help and control all things, and that is where we are heading.

Kruchscheve said back in the 50s, that America would fall from within and how right he was. There is no one to blame but ourselves for the majority of Americans voted this all in whether they wanted it or not. I thank God, I voted for the man who lost. Because now, we are all about to lose.

May God have mercy on our souls.

I just wanted to say to "Leon", ummm have you watched the news there buddy??? A bunch of rich guys have been asking for bailouts, AIG, Numerous other huge banks, GM, Chrysler etc etc...so your completely off base on that one

With regards to socialism, I disagree with it, but I also disagree with social programs being demonized like they are. I needed help while going through a rough pregnancy. I recieved welfare for 15 months. While I was pregnant and for 6 months after I gave birth. My daughter is now 2 1/2 and I just bought my first home. I'm 22. These social programs kept me and my baby housed and fed, and helped me get on my feet. Not everyone on welfare is a drug addict. If it werent for these programs me and my daughter would be on the street. You should have some compassion. What would you have these people who need help do? Starve on the street? Do you even care?
