wellsummer chickens does anyone have any ideas on getting them to set on the nest?

good luck! All I can say is have your nesting boxes and that's about it. We have the same problem...some will use the nesting box while others just lay on the floor. I am not sure why they do that but we have tried it all.

A chicken will take to incubating her eggs quite naturally after she has laid a clutch of eggs,provided she has the broody trait in her.Many breeds have had this trait bred out of them so as to make them more productive, a spell with incubating & caring for the baby chicks until they are able to fend for themselves means a period of no egg production,which is a strain on the producer.
People have tried many ways to coax a hen to set,she will if she really has it in her.
