I would suggest paying a family to put you up. If that isn't exactly your preferred method of lodging, there are also many nice hotels. The Quinta Real is definitely the nicest of the bunch, but you may find it to be a little costly. You can find more hotels here in the link below.

I enjoyed the Hotel Urdiñola at Victoria 251. Fine lobby, small but pleasant rooms. Around US$50. A couple of blocks from the central Plaza.

There's big name hotels if that's what you want, but you can find better values by going native.

Since you seem to prefer big names, I'd recommend the Quinta Real --- outstanding luxury and their Saltillo property always has the cheapest nightly rates in the chain. The downside is that it isn't particularly convenient to downtown sites....if that's a concern to you....Show more
