How do I save golden sun? Error msg "Cannot find backup memory".

I get msg "backup memory not found" when saving golden sun. I am not completely computer literate. When I use "esc" vboy quits unexpectedly. F1 sends me back to room game opens to. Detailed instructions needed please.

Visual Boy Advance should automatically set up backup memory. Make sure you have the correct Game Boy Advance BIOS (gbasys.bin).
