Who would you consider to be howards back up?

for the usmnt.
its always good to have two solid gks. and its obviously not guzan, who sits on the bench for his club team.

Good Q.
Guzan was the heir apparent, but he looked skittish in his NT start v. El Salvador.

And now, with his successor at Chivas, Zach Thornton, suddenly having a career year, with the league's best goals-allowed-per ratio, you gotta wonder whether Guzan's success at Chivas was attributable as much to the coach and the team as his own ability.

If I were Bob Bradley I'd bring Brad Friedel with me to South Africa. Friedel could play till he's 50.

Guzan is the back up. he is on the bench but he is behind one of the US greats, brad friedel who can teach him tons plus we dont have another keeper who can play at that level who isnt too old

Actually I'd go with Guzan.
But another option for me would be Troy Perkins.
