What is a good cheese!?

At my work we have pot luck once a week. This week we are doing a cheese tasting. I want to know what a good cheese to bring that we might not of had before. Something not normal in an American household i.e. Cheddar, Swiss. I was hoping to get some suggestions. Thank you for your help!!

Try a nice wedge of Huntsman Cheese.

Huntsman cheese is a combination of two English cheeses: Stilton and Double Gloucester. The two types of cheese are combined in alternating layers. It is hand layered and is a very labor intensive process. Huntsman is made by Long Clawson Dairy in Melton Mowbray. It is a trademarked name. There are many copies in the market including Stilchester Cheese.

You should be able to find it at any large grocery that has a good cheese selection.

Brie, Gorgonzola (if u like bleu cheese), Muenster, a smoked provolone. For the Brie I like it packed with brown sugar, drizzled with melted butter and topped with pecan halves, heat until warm and squishy. Nothing better served on crackers. U might want to get some fruit to go with the cheese too, it helps clear the palate!

My favorite cheese right now is halloumi. It's a firm sheep's milk cheese that you slice and grill or fry. t may be a little difficult to find, but I buy mine at the Middle Eastern food shop near my house. You could also try chevre (goat cheese)- it's particularly good spread on fruit or nuts (I really like it spread on a strawberry and topped with an almond).

Havarti is my favorite. You can buy it at your store's deli.

From:

Simi-soft:

"Havarti is a traditional, creamery and semi-soft. It is a simple, washed-rind cheese with irregular holes throughout. There is an enriched version, with added cream which is softer and feels more luxurious in the mouth. There is also a version with caraway seeds. Havarti is named after the farm in Denmark where Hanne Nielsen first made it."

(lots of cheeses can be found on the above website)
