Will installing Windows 7 RC erase my files (I'm on Vista)?
I have Vista x64 Ultimate. If I install the Windows 7 RC, which it says is an upgrade, will it delete all my files and stuff, or will it preserve them?

Just partition your Hard Drive, then install Win7 RC1 to that Partition.

It will allow you to keep your files as Windows Old however, you may have to reinstall many of your programs for them to work with Windows 7. If you want to try Windows 7. I suggest you create another partition and, install it on the new partition.

Or in case you have a computing gadget/computing device, or placed it right into a USB 3.0/2.0 eSata housing and use it as an externalchronic, with the newchronic purring alongside with a clean deploy...

Upgrades do not usually delete files, only a fresh load that also does a format will delete files.

Whenever I ran updates my files were never erased. If that were to happen you usually get a warning. I'm sure Microsoft websignt also has answers for you.
