Good morning, ELJ, and a Happy Mother's Day to you.
As you are aware, my mother had a total knee replacement on Monday. For insurance purposes, she was released on Wednesday and is recovering at home. She is doing quite well, and is able to maneuver through the house with the aid of a walker. As soon as her left leg heals, she'll undergo a cadaver-tendon transplant on her right knee, which will enable her to walk on her own two feet. *big smile* Thanks for the warm thoughts and prayers. You are such a special lady. (((((ELJ)))))
Anyway, because a lot of mom's time is spent lying on her bed (it's been relocated to the living room) my sons and I have spent the last few days prettying up her yard and planting flowers outside her window, so that she has something pleasant to look at while she recovers.
Also, I offered to make dinner, and transport it to her home, where we would spend the day together visiting ... She'll have none of this, and is insisting that we go out for dinner this afternoon. I feel that may be too much, but if I take her in a wheelchair, we could do this. I think she just wants to get out -- she's been housebound for so long. Anyway I want to buy her dinner, she wants to buy mine as a show of appreciation ... Maybe my stepfather will pay for us all. :)
So, aside from transforming her yard and being there for her, I have nothing else to give. Money is non-existent, but the time spent with loved ones is perhaps the most precious of all gifts.
Point well made, what comes to mind is this if you do not love the Mother how can you love the Son? Protestants have distanced themselves from the Blessed Mother so much that they can only pretend to have feelings for Her, and yet She is the Mother of all humanity, what an imsult to go on freely offending Mary, the gem in the crown of all His creative work. God bless.
I'm 10 yrs old, and I sent my mom 2 cards from 123 Greetins! And a cute little amytheyst in a purple Pouch with a little note and a touching letter! Hope it helps P.S- It doesn't matter how big the gist is what matters is how much care it has
Well, to be honest, I'm separated from my mom by a continent and an ocean, so I'm not able to give her anything in person. And she's ill (she has cancer) so she's not really checking her email lately. But I'll be calling her later this evening to wish her a happy Mother's Day. When my husband and I get back to the States, that'll be her (late) Mother's Day present, because then I'll be able to hug her.
