Will I be able to install the soon to be released Windows 7 on my NEW laptop?

Hi, I recently (hasn't even shipped yet) purchased a Dell Studio XPS 16 that is maxed out on everything (2.96 Processor, 8GB, etc)... but it comes with Vista, and I heard that Windows 7 is likely to be released during the fall.

Will I be able to replace Vista for the new version when it comes out for free? Considering that I only purchased Vista this week and Vista is known to have a lot of problems. Has anyone been in a similar situation with Microsoft before?

And what about Office 2010? Which is coming out on January?

Well thank you all! This is really bothering me!

Oh, you might be bit too late. According to a press release. Any laptops sold after 1st July will be eligible for a free upgrade. I am in need for a lap top as well, so I just thought I would just wait.

Not sure about Office 2010..but I don't think that would be possible.

About the only problems Vista has (other than getting used to it) are related to slow processors and limited RAM. I don't think you'll be too disappointed with your new computer.

There's no guarantee of cut-off date for free 7 upgrades yet. We'll have to wait and see.

Rumor has it that Microsoft WILL allow late comers to Vista to upgrade to "7" without any charge. Save your documentation!

Many firms will give an allowance to upgrade their employees to upgrade Office, if it is needed for work at home. Ask in your HR.

Of course, if you are just some puke kid....ask your parents!
