Is anyone else out there disappointed with the Sims 3?

Bought it yesterday and it lags terribly. I've got a brand new computer that is way beyond the minimum requirements to play.

Is anyone else having issues?

I, myself, am extremely disappointed with EA.
I don't know if my problems are the result of downloading it off EA's site instead of purchasing the CD, but it sounds like a lot of other people are having the same issues as me.

My game is frustratingly slow. I exceed the minimum requirements, yet there is lag time before every action. The graphics are excellent in Create-a-Sim mode, but it puzzles me that when you are actually playing your sims, the graphics look even worse than the original sims! I have changed my settings to improve graphics, but that just made the lagging worse and made objects grey for about 5 seconds before they rendered. I don't understand why... I had absolutely no problems with the Sims 2 or even the Sims 1, and what is supposed to be an improvement shouldn't seem like multiple steps down.

I feel like I was cheated into buying this game. The graphics look amazing in the trailers and on the website, gameplay seemed flawless, and the 'exploring the neighborhood' idea seemed excellent. You can't even go inside the community buildings! All the Sims 3 really is, is a game with elementary graphics, having your sim wander around the town aimlessly, and sitting around waiting during the lagging before everything you do. Did I mention I was extremely disappointed? Because I am.

I don't like the game interface either. It is frustrating that you can't zoom into the neighborhood on the main screen... I don't want to have to click on every house to see what they look like. I am disappointed with the lack of items, clothing, and hair, but I can guarantee EA has done that intentionally to sell more expansion packs. The color and pattern customization is a good concept but doesn't make up for the lack of items and looks cheap if you make the colors too bright. It seems almost glitchy when sims are getting into their cars (or not... the just "appear" in them)... they had no problem doing it in the Sims 2, why not the Sims 3? It just goes to show the lack of effort put into this game by EA, who seemingly had created their "best PC game yet."

I am regretting downloading this copy because now I can't sell this piece of crap on ebay. I feel scammed... I gave EA my money, and they give me this. It looks like it is released at least a year too early... EA is just eager for the money and released it before it was ready, and all of us unsuspecting Sims fans buy it thinking it will be as great as they promised. So while I sit around waiting for them to make some kind of patch to fix the lagging, graphics, etc... I will be playing the Sims 2, and actually enjoying my gameplay unlike the Sims 3.

I have been looking at the videos, ads, reviews released online. My estimate is that the Sims 3 is poor. It's just hype. The only thing
I would want from this version is the nieghborhood walk around and the less-time-pooping-eating-bathing. The Sims 2 has better graphics, the sims 2 sims looks more real. Looking at the demos I feel like I am watching a bunch of anime characters. EA cheated us. Why didnt they just improve on the Sims 2 instead?
I just hope the ModTheSims geniuses can come up with mods for the sims 2 where we can have the neighbor interactions.

I am kinda disappointed. The sims 3 has weaker quality, but i think you can change it and make it better in the options category. But this will make the program work even slower!! The worst part is that it does not have the detail that i thought it would have, you can't go into community lots and i believe you can only play in one neighborhood! No animals either. The good parts are that it has more customizing, you can walk around town, you can change the quality, and that there are more age groups. I am just starting to play, so i may be incorrect in some cases, but i think that the makers of the sims 3 should of just kept the sims 2 and added on the customizing and neighborhood walking around thing, but not completely changed it!

I haven't had a whole lot of time to play, however, I like what I see so far. The only issue I have is the Ultra Speed is like the Sims 2 fast speed. It just isn't fast enough. I'm a tad disappointed with the Collector's Edition. Even though I knew what I was getting, I still expected a nice surprise to justify the extra $20. In any case, I have no lagging issues whatsoever and the game loads like a dream. I have a pretty good graphics card though. Maybe that is your problem.

i do unlike Sims 3 as much as Sims 2. i'm very disenchanted! i admire the Create a Sim, this is my well known area, regrettably. For me, the pics are worse than Sims 2 because of the fact of my stupid video card. So I had to tutor all the techniques down and so the pics are strange. i think of it is complicated and overwhelming and that i think of it exchange right into a waste of money. i will quite pass back to Sims 2, fortuitously I didnt uninstall each little thing. I equipped up lots exhilaration and EA permit me down tons. i'm hoping they arrive out with something extra suitable sooner or later and take all of our comments into attention... ~Piggieluvver
