Matthew 10:34 - "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

Sword in this case, is a metaphor..Sword is God's word..
===================================
Also: Luke 22:36: "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Jesus in this verse advocates the use of a sword for self-defense purposes. Again, not a pacifist.

38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: Is. 53.12 for the things concerning me have an end.

The above is showing why Jesus wanted them to have swords..for the prophecy to be fulfilled also so He could set an example to His followers:

And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and smote off his ear.

And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

There isn't anywhere after, that we read that any of the disciples used swords against anyone.. :)

Though we may disagree in our beliefs and or thoughts..You know I ~Love~ you dear "Friend".. :)

Pacifists don't threaten to return with a sword and take out all the non-believers and sinners.

Matthew 10:34 - "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

There is no way anyone can interpret that to claim he was a pacifist.

Also: Luke 22:36: "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Jesus in this verse advocates the use of a sword for self-defense purposes. Again, not a pacifist.

Then of course, there's always the matter of that darn fig tree....

Good to see you ELJ...hope all is well!!

While Jesus is the “prince of peace”, He was not, and is not, a pacifist. Revelation 19:15, speaking of Jesus, declares, "Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter.
Matthew 24:6-8 says, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

No, Jesus is not a pacifist. He is a realist who recognizes that the only way to deter some evil is by force.

The clearest illustration of his willingness to conduct just war is the parable of the tenants in Luke 20.

"A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.

"Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.'

"But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. 'This is the heir,' they said. 'Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

"What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others."

While this parable has a higher meaning, about the usurpation of the Temple by a self-serving, prophet-killing elite, it also has a literal meaning, like all parables. The literal meaning is that any murderous band of usurpers who resists all peaceful envoys must be dislodged by an armed force.

Cheers,
Bruce

The liberals, atheists and others that are antichristian say yes (some say they don't believe He existed but yes He was a pacifist).

Jesus told christians to turn the other cheek.

Jesus someday will be the judge of all people. He won't be PC "tolerant",He won't allow people that "think" they are good enough to enter heaven,He won't allow any PC protected sin in.
