Vinyl, cassette, or compact disc?

Which do you prefer, and is there a specific reason why?

I prefer cassettes :P

I'm not exactly sure why, maybe it's because most of my favorite lp's are on cassette. the only downside about cassettes are that if you don't take care of them they easily fall apart

Vinyl as collectibles... (I have some great ones.)

Cassettes as desperation... (Tired of replacing cassettes with CD's.)

CD's as space savers... (Watch out people, they're about to get smaller...
which is one probable reason for the closing of Virgin Record stores!)

Should I just follow the example of Farenheit 451, and commit
everything to memory?!!!!

I like the vinyl because they are easy to handle, the needle can be placed anywhere on the record without fast forwarding or rewinding. Cassette is good because it is smaller than the vinyl, but can be erased to use over again. Compact Disc is smaller than the vinyl and that's good, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to last as long. But it does sound nice and clear. But it has one big draw back. If it gets scratched, it can't be played where as vinyl can still be played, but there will be a pop in it. I guess I don't really have a preference. Just use whatever is available. I would think that if microchips price comes down, songs will be recorded on those. Like on about the size of SD memory cards. There wouldn't be any moving parts. And they would be erasable.

Oh, cd's for sure! I've never owned a record player, so no reason to get vinyl. Plus, Cd's are fairly durable. I've had way too many cassettes that were ruined for no other reason than my player was hungry. At least that's the only thing I can figure! Not to mention the ability to immediately get to the track you want, instead of using FF and Rewind.

Why do you prefer cassettes?

Compact disc, baby! All the way! :-)

Well I don't like cassettes 'cause I used to use them when I was little but they just get all unstuck and shitty, if you know what I mean..basically they end up breaking whenever I play something over and over which I have the habit of doing.

I am trying to get more into vinyl (my mum has loads of records) but imma have to go with CD's for the simple reason that I have more of them so it's what I'm used to now. Plus I'm loving the little CD booklet and everything... :D

Also...when you're trying to find music it is SO much easier to find it on a CD than it is to find it on vinyl or cassette...at least, where I live.

Vinyl, mostly for the crackle at the start and because they look nicer, but there's something special about mixtapes on cassette. When I buy new albums they're mostly CDs though, because I want to put them on my iPod and computer - I like what some bands do, where they put a code to get free mp3s inside the vinyl albums, so you can have it both ways. I think No Age did that with Nouns, but I only realised after I'd got the CD...
