What is considered fraud?
My mother just recently got on disability (I honestly think she just doesn't want to work anymore and this is the easy way out, she's only 46 and its a mental thing, but the state granted it to her, so i guess its serious enough) and she is trying to get full custody of my little sister. But in order for the state to allow her a two bedroom apartment, she has to have someone else sign a lease with her. So my mom then asked my other sister if she would sign the lease with her, and my sister asked if she would have to pay rent, and my mom said no because you won't be living here, the other bedroom is for Sydney. (my little sister)
Well, my mom has never been much of a responsible mother, and I was talking to my other sister and I mentioned, well, what if mom misses a payment or gets evicted, not only will it ruin your credit, but it will be fraud, because you aren't even living there. Is this accurate?
We live in Michigan if that helps any.
Well, i know what a co-signer is, but this is not the case. If my mom wants to get a two bedroom, through disability, she needs to prove that someone with income lives in the apartment with her. And my sister is just being asked to sign the lease and not live there.
